Greatly Mistaken
Jesus replied, “Are you not in error because you do not know the Scriptures or the power of God?”
Mistakes are always costly. In business, errors are eventually revealed, and though unintentional, usually result in money coming out of my pocket.
Concerning eternal matters the consequences for being wrong are severe. We all share the same problem. “There is a way that seems right to a man, but it’s end is the way of death.”
The Sadducees felt secure in their belief that the dead do not rise. In his kindness, Jesus took the time to set them straight. He said, “He is not the God of the dead, but the God of the living, therefore, you are greatly mistaken.”
Paul the apostle wrote to those doubters, “If the dead aren’t raised, then Christ hasn’t risen either. Your faith is useless and you’re still in your sins and lost. But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead.”
Friend, you who must see to believe. Don’t doubt. Learn from the Sadducees mistake. Don’t be deceived by the dictate of your own heart. Instead, listen to Jesus, “you are in error because you do not know the Scriptures or the power of God.”
There’s a day coming. Jesus sitting on a great white throne. The dead, both great and small, are standing before him. Books are opened, and they’re judged by what they had done as recorded in the books.
On his right stands another group. While on the earth they believed in him and are declared righteous.
There names are found in the Book of Life.
