Guard Your Heart against Complaining and Murmuring - Raising Zion

complaining and murmuring. multiethnic women fighting in room

Standing for what is right is bound to create enemies. What about standing for Christ, the source of all truth? All the more.

When a believer becomes a teacher or headmaster or a god-fearing minister gets newly transferred, some still complain. Sometimes when a pastor preaches the truth, believers complain, unable to bear the sermon.

There are all kinds of people in the church. Some go against ministers, some directly against God. Then some create divisions among the flock.

Social media thrives on negative commentary and murmurings. It reveals the mind of an increasingly sinful world. We need to do all things without murmurings and disputings. (Philippians‬ ‭2:14‬)

Who are these people who are always complaining and murmuring all the time?

(Jude 1:16)

  1. Walk after their lusts
  2. Mouth speaks swelling words
  3. Flattering people to gain an advantage

Israel kept complaining against God during the journey. Many perished because of it (Numbers 11:1). Though Israel lacked nothing spiritually or physically, they walked after their lusts. They got comfortable in the wilderness, choosing their need over God’s will. The lusts of the flesh and the eyes drove them into an irrecoverable backsliding.

Miriam spoke out of line when she and Aaron questioned Moses’ marriage to a Cushite woman. They were correct according to the law but wrong because it was God’s plan for Moses. Miriam, out of her ego, tried pulling down Moses by the letter of the law rather than acknowledging the grace of God on Moses. She thought she was righteous, only to find herself caught in self-righteousness.

Some people love to flatter for personal favours. God hates flattery because it is a lie, an insincere effort for personal gain.

People murmured against Christ as some felt he was deceiving others (John 7:12). People will murmur against you as you stand for the truth.

Build your strength in prayer and bible medication. God responds for those who wait on Him. Like Abraham and other biblical heroes. Maranatha, Praise God, and Amen.

    Struggling Together in Prayer

I was in the restroom touching up my makeup before speaking to several hundred women. When I looked in the mirror, thoughts began swirling in my mind. What am I doing here? What do I possibly have to say to these women that could make any difference in their lives? I am not capable of walking to that podium tonight. Read more...
