HOW DO WE OVERCOME THE WORLD STRUCTURE
1. Recognise that you are not of this world– if you don’t want to be overwhelmed by the strategies and principles of this world, vocalise this statement: “I am not of this world.” (repeat this several times) Jesus prayed thus for his disciples in John 17:14 “I have given them thy word; and the world hath hateth them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.” (Also take time to read the whole chapter) so recognise that you don’t belong to this traveller. You are sojourned here, a traveller. You are just passing through, so first of all recognise that difference.
2. Know that in this world, you will experience tribulation-know that one for sure. That is why the bible says in John chapter 16:33; These things I have spoken unto you that in me ye might have peace in the world ye shall have tribulation but be good cheer; I have overcome the world.
3. Realise that gaining the world is not worth losing your soul – the bible says in Mark chapter 8:36 for what shall it profit a man if he shall gain the whole world and lose his own soul.” It is bad business to gain the world and lose your soul.
4. Do not love the world 1 John 2:15 “love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man loves the world, the love of the Father is not in Him.” Know for sure that if you love the world you are an enemy of God. When you are seeking for the world’s approval, the world’s signature, the world’s praise, you signature the world’s praise you are an enemy of God.
5. Recognise that the world is temporary in nature – 1 John 2:16-17 “for all that is in the world the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth forever.
6. You must worldly lust-Titus 2:12 says “Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in this present world;” Don’t get involved in this worldly lust system; keep yourself unspotted from the world. Any area of your life that has been hooked by the world will be an source of constant attack.
7. Crucify the power of the world- Galatians 6:14 says: But God forbid that I should glory save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world.” Crucifixion is an unnatural death. So like the flesh, the power of the world in your life will not die a natural death, you must purposely kill it. If you have a friend and this friend does not help towards your holiness, ask the friend to go away because; he will pull down your life and this is very serious matter.
8. Know your mission in this world- you must know it, you are not be affected by this world, but you are affected by this world, but you are to affect the world. You are to be a light n this world of darkness; you are to reflect the glory of God and witness for God
