How I dress And Why - Impacting Righteously

In this post, I am going to share with you some facts about my attire. I will discuss how I dress and reasons why. How I dress is not only a matter of personal preference, but also a matter of personal conviction. Where the word of God doesn’t lay out a direct command on a particular matter specifically, I use Christ-centered, biblical principles as my guide. I pray for guidance as well.

This post is about my personal convictions; not to dictate what someone else should do.

I prefer skirts and dresses! I was raised wearing skirts and dresses. However, as a young girl, when I got the opportunity, I wore pants sometimes, when I was out of my parents’ sight! At the time, I felt uncomfortable in skirts around the girls at school.

I felt pressure to dress as other girls dressed. They typically wore jeans or some kind of slacks. I wanted to fit in. Therefore, when I got the chance, I ditched the long skirts. Fast forward to me as an adult, I have a different appreciation for wearing classy and fashionable, yet conservative skirts and dresses.

These are reasons I now love skirts and dresses:

1. It is my own personal decision, instead of feeling obligated to, which is how I felt as a young teen. I didn’t appreciate how my parents influenced me to dress until I was older.

2. To me, dresses and skirts are very feminine. I love looking and feeling feminine!

3. Although my dresses and skirts fit me well and are not too loose, they are still not too form-fitting.

4. How I dress is one way of honoring God and respecting my body. My body is sacred.

5. My skirts and dresses cover me well. This is important to me as I keep Matthew 5: 27-28 in mind.

Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery: But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.”

I do not want to present myself in a way that exposes my body and creates temptation for men. This does not take away from their own personal accountability to control what they look at, and how they look at it. Naturally, I also like to cover up on top. For example, if a shirt is too low-cut, I am sure to wear a tank underneath.

I understand that there are also pants that are not tight-fitting! Many lovely and wonderful Christian ladies do wear pants. That is up to them. My personal conviction and preference is to wear skirts and dresses.

Thankfully, God looks at the heart.

• The condition of our heart dictates our behavior.

• There are women who go through the motions of dressing conservatively, but practice lawlessness in many regards.

• There are other women who dress less conservatively, but are living proof of the love of Christ in their actions.

• Obviously, even some skirts are not conservative or modest at all.

• To sum it up, I believe every Christian should honor God in all things, including in how they dress.

Seeking God’s will through His word and through prayer is of the utmost importance. Every individual must be persuaded within their own mind. Each son and daughter of God is doing the right thing as an individual when they take action, based on the leading and guidance of the Holy Spirit.

It’s just me 🙂

When God Throws a Little Bit of “All Things” in Your Life

I love Romans 8:28. Now, let me be honest…sometimes I don’t. When I am going through a dark time of loss or disappointment, and someone throws a sloppy coat of Romans 8:28 on my open wound, I just want to scream. There. I said it. Paul wrote: “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, Read more...

What does it mean to have childlike faith?

What do you think of when you hear the word “childlike?”For many of us, “childlike” might bring to mind something immature, foolish, or naive. Yet when Jesus talked about childlike faith, he wasn’t asking us to be any of these things. He was inviting us into something pure, trusting, and real. This week, I got to help lead worship at a kids' camp. Watching the kids worship was such a beautiful reminder of what childlike faith truly looks like. These kids worshiped, prayed, and talked about God.
