How Joy Gives Us Strength in Our Struggles — A Nighttime Prayer

“A joyful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.” – Proverbs 17:22 (ESV)

Heavenly Father, You know how crushed I feel when I get overwhelmed by storms in life that seem to have no end in sight. I’m struggling to keep my eyes fixed on You instead of the hardship I am experiencing right now. But I don’t want to let these struggles rule my emotions. I ask You to open my eyes to the evidence of the grace-filled gifts You have placed in my path and remind me of Your faithfulness and unwavering promises. Fill me with Your sustaining joy through the transforming work of the Holy Spirit, that I might abound with hope and experience Your peace. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.
