How To Show Gratitude to God despite Your Many Problems - Christian Personal Development

It is clearly evident today that we are in the end time. Many events, as prescribed by the Bible, God’s living Word, are showing this already. So many personal and family problems are fighting to take our attention away from God and His Word.

People don’t want to show gratitude to God again.

When your attention is taking away from God and His Word, your heart will definitely grow cold to the wonderful act of showing gratitude to God.

This post’s intention is to encourage you to keep your focus on God and His Word. It is to help you if you are facing one challenge or the other out there and you feel God has abandoned you. God has not abandoned you; in fact he is working behind the scene to solve your problem.

Showing gratitude and thanking Him despite the tough situation will draw His hand of power to your situation. It is a good thing if you learn to show gratitude to God.

What My Grateful Neighbor Showed Me

Sometimes ago  as I tried to think over the many problems that were hitting hard at me and my family from every corner, I naturally slipped into an ungrateful mood and I found it difficult finding any form of sleep all through the night.  I said to myself, “If God is not able to pull me out of these problems then of what use is my service to Him in His vineyard. It is likely He is not interested in helping me.”

I said this line of statement in my heart and dozed off. However, as I woke up in the morning, I heard the voice of my next-door neighbor singing the morning praise to God and thanking Him with all his heart. Then the Lord spoke to my heart this line of statement: “You see if you fail to show gratitude to me even for the things I have done for you already, you are shortchanging yourself. It does not take anything away from me. There are many others like your neighbor who are praising and thanking me already.”

You can guess what I did after I heard that: I jumped up from my bed and began to sing praises and to thank Him profusely. If you are struggling to show gratitude to God because of your many problems, the remaining part of this article will help you.

9 Reasons Why You Must learn to Show Gratitude to God

Because He is God

He told Moses to inform Pharaoh that He is the I AM (Exodus 3:14). This implies that He was the One who had been there before Pharaoh and his forefathers were born. He was the One who was still there when God was sending Moses to Pharaoh and He is the One who will always be there even after Pharaoh must have gone.

The devil will not totally take over the earth and unleash his wickedness at will because God is God. Even the beast as shown in the book of Revelation;13:15, was granted power from heaven to be able “to give breath to the image of the beast”.  Revelations 13:5 also records this about another beast: “And he was given a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies, and he was given authority to continue for forty-two months”.

God is God and He is perfectly in charge of all things. Only the things He allows are permitted to happen. Whatever happens will end up fulfilling His divine plan for the earth. You need to praise Him and thank Him because He is God.

Because He is Your Maker

God is your Maker. He made you and put you on this earth in the first place. He gave you the life you are living at the moment; you need to thank Him for this precious gift of life. Even if you lack something now, I know you have life because you are reading this book. Thank Him because He is your Maker. You should read Psalm 149:2: “Let Israel rejoice in their Maker, Let the children of Zion be joyful in their King”.

Because of His Benefits

The Bible says, “He daily loaded us with benefits”. You should thank Him for these benefits. They are many; you need to allow yourself to see them. Take time off to do a strong meditation on this, you will find out lots of these benefits and praise and thanksgiving will naturally spring up from your heart and mouth.

Because of His Promises

Thank God because He has made lots of promises to you. These promises are in His Word in the Bible. There are lots of them there. I thank God for all He has promised me in His Word. His promises are the fuel that keeps my joy intact, strong and burning consistently.

Because of the Gift of Salvation

The angel told Joseph, the earthly father of Jesus, “And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins (Matthew 1:21). All glory to God for this gift. You need to thank Him for this if you are saved already. If you are not you need to ask Jesus to become your Lord and Savior.

Thank God because Jesus came to die and shed His blood to take your sins away. He dealt with the sin problem so that we can have the opportunity of becoming sons of God.

Because of the Gift of the Holy Spirit

This is another wonderful Gift you need to thank God for. Jesus promised Him in Acts chapter 1:8 and in the gospel books. He was delivered in Acts Chapter 2. I don’t even want to think of or imagine how Christians would cope if the Holy Spirit was not given. Thank God for this Gift; He is a precious Gift to the body of Christ on this earth.

Because There is a Heaven

If there is no heaven, then there would have been nothing that would have formed the foundation of the hope of Christians on the earth. There is heaven to hope for and this is our blessed hope. Jesus said to His disciples, “In my Father’s house are many mansions…” (John 14:2). Others may not have this hope, we have it, and we will one day be rewarded for our faithfulness to Godliness and to the cause of Christ on this earth. Thank Him because this blessed one-day is coming.

Because He Has Destroyed the Works of the Devil

In 1 John 3:8, “For this purpose, the Son of God was manifested that He might destroy the works of the devil”. Jesus came to destroy the works of the devil. In doing so, He gives us the power and the opportunity to be in charge on this earth. The devil is defeated, his works have been destroyed, and we have been empowered to dominate situations and circumstances on this earth. Praise Him and thank Him for this great privilege.

Because He Wants to Execute Judgment Upon Our Enemies

The devil and his agents are your enemies. God wants to bring His judgment on them. This is clearly stated in Psalm 149: 6-9 and Isaiah 42:13.

There are many other reasons why you have to thank God and praise Him always. You just read nine of those reasons above. Let the Spirit of God inspire you with more revelations.
