How to Think for Yourself - Raising GENERATION Zion

Are you thinking about yourself or not? Thinking and reflecting on your life is different for a nonbeliever vs a believer.

Thinking or reflecting about yourself is often considered a tough exercise. Neuroscientists are still figuring it out, though they agree that thinking is exhausting.

Thinking involves the spirit, your inner man reasoning with fleshly lusts vs spiritual needs.

Paul talks about how the flesh fights against the spirit. What does it mean? It means our sinful earthly understanding and conditioning of the spirit rebels against the new and fresh understanding we receive from God.

This struggle is the foundation of mental health issues. Anxieties, panic, depression, suicidal thinking, etc are all evil spirits that eventually burden the flesh when we give in to the thinking of the flesh.

The fleshly man is hopeless. He is afraid to think about the future. He is always worried about what to eat, drink, wear and live. (Matthew 6:24-34)

The corruption of sin made us dead to Christ and made us fleshly.

The salvation we received by the blood of Jesus made us dead to sin.

Think in Christ to think for yourself

Every day, we renew ourselves in prayer and Bible meditation to present our bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God (Romans 12). This daily renewal keeps us centred on God’s will and helps us understand our mental and emotional state. No amount of physical exercise can help one overcome spiritual evil.

What do we need to overcome? The armour of God Paul cited in Ephesians 6:10-20. When you put on the armour of God, you think for yourself. An understanding every believer has is that every spiritual discipline begins with Love.

Think for yourself. Think according to God’s will for your life. Not your own. Separate yourself from lustful relationships and unholy habits. Jesus is coming for the poor in spirit. Praise God, and Amen.

When God Throws a Little Bit of “All Things” in Your Life

I love Romans 8:28. Now, let me be honest…sometimes I don’t. When I am going through a dark time of loss or disappointment, and someone throws a sloppy coat of Romans 8:28 on my open wound, I just want to scream. There. I said it. Paul wrote: “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, Read more...

What does it mean to have childlike faith?

What do you think of when you hear the word “childlike?”For many of us, “childlike” might bring to mind something immature, foolish, or naive. Yet when Jesus talked about childlike faith, he wasn’t asking us to be any of these things. He was inviting us into something pure, trusting, and real. This week, I got to help lead worship at a kids' camp. Watching the kids worship was such a beautiful reminder of what childlike faith truly looks like. These kids worshiped, prayed, and talked about God.
