Is He Keeping Something Good From Me?

“Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter. Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes and clever in their own sight” Isaiah 5:20-21

Man has had a fascination and curiosity of evil from the beginning. Adam did not know evil, but he was tempted to find out more about it.  Satan inferred that a man could have a near proximity to evil and not be affected by it.  He told Eve that she could be like God knowing good and evil and that this would be a good thing for her.

Adam and Eve had a full knowledge of goodness because they had a very close relationship with the all good God. Goodness was written on their hearts and they had never sinned. They weren’t ignorant, yet they wanted to know what evil was.  They felt safe enough to approach it and were confident they could handle whatever they found.

They believed the lie that God was keeping something from them. So, they ate the fruit and immediately entered the realm of evil.  For a moment, everything seemed the same, until to their dread, they came face to face with God who alone is Goodness.

Who are you with a sinful nature, that you think you can draw near to evil? How can you feel safe being anywhere near it? Look closely at Adam and Eve in their perfection before they disobeyed God. Ponder the outcome of the devil as he fell in his pride. (Isaiah 14:12-15)

Where will your end be if you seek after evil? You were taught differently when you came to Him and you’re understanding isn’t darkened anymore. (Ephesians 4:17-24)

“Father, we pray that You would deliver us from evil. Thank you for the Holy Spirit who helps us in our weakness. Give us help in the hour of testing to put all our trust in You alone. In Jesus name, amen.”

    Struggling Together in Prayer

I was in the restroom touching up my makeup before speaking to several hundred women. When I looked in the mirror, thoughts began swirling in my mind. What am I doing here? What do I possibly have to say to these women that could make any difference in their lives? I am not capable of walking to that podium tonight. Read more...
