Is Romans 10:10 an After-Report? (Leviticus) | "Heart + Unto" study in the Bible study
Robert: "Then, we will confess that we got it. Confession is what comes after the fact. Confession isn't what makes the thing happen. Confession is, the thing happened, let me confess it.
My wife makes some cookies. She says, 'Don't steal the cookies.' She walks to the bathroom. She's not looking, she's gone, I run, I eat a cookie. An hour goes by. She comes back, she says, 'Who ate the cookie?' I confess, 'I ate the cookie.' Did I eat the cookie an hour later when I confessed, or did it take place already? Now I'm confessing unto the fact that I ate the cookie. That's what I'm doing.
So 'confession is made unto salvation' means, according to Scripture, that when you are saved by believing from the heart, then you confess: 'I believe the gospel. I believe the death, burial, resurrection, shed blood for our sins according to the scriptures, how He died. I'm trusting in the blood.' That is salvation. When you believe, then you confess. Then you say, 'And I have believed it.'"
If Breaker is right and unto is an after report.
This is great! Because, we can prove whether he's right or wrong by going through every instance of unto + heart in the Bible and see if he's right!
Leviticus 26:16 I also will do this unto you; I will even appoint over you terror, consumption, and the burning ague, that shall consume the eyes, and cause sorrow of heart: and ye shall sow your seed in vain, for your enemies shall eat it.
God is warning them, but the cookie logic implies He has already done this. This would be an after-report of God having already done what He just warned them about, even though this is supposedly God warning them not to eat the cookie.
Leviticus 26:41 And that I also have walked contrary unto them, and have brought them into the land of their enemies; if then their uncircumcised hearts be humbled, and they then accept of the punishment of their iniquity:
I have included the full verses here.
"If they shall confess their iniquity, and the iniquity of their fathers, with their trespass which they trespassed against me, and that also they have walked contrary unto me;"
Following this logic, God is giving an after-report that He already walked contrary unto them, and because of that, He will walk contrary to them.
41 And that I also have walked contrary unto them, and have brought them into the land of their enemies; if then their uncircumcised hearts be humbled, and they then accept of the punishment of their iniquity: 42 Then will I remember my covenant with Jacob, and also my covenant with Isaac, and also my covenant with Abraham will I remember; and I will remember the land.
Doesn't make sense.
