Just do something rather than nothing
Proverbs 16:3:
"Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and He will establish your plans."
James 1:22:
"But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves."
When faced with something new, whether it is a challenge at work, a new relationship, or a decision about your future, it is natural to feel stuck, unsure of what to do. Anxiety can grip you tightly, clouding your thoughts and making it difficult to see a clear path forward. You may find yourself overthinking every possible outcome, second-guessing yourself, and feeling overwhelmed by the uncertainty of the situation. This can lead to a sense of paralysis, where you feel unable to take any action at all.
In Christian living, you know to follow Christ's footsteps, but you are unsure how.
You strive to be compassionate, forgiving, and faithful in all that you do. However, despite your best intentions, you may still find yourself grappling with how to apply these principles to your everyday life.
For instance, you may encounter a situation where a friend is in need, and while you want to help, you are unsure of the best way to offer support. Or perhaps you are struggling to forgive someone who has hurt you deeply, but you are uncertain how to let go of the pain and move forward.
In times like these, just do something rather than nothing.
Taking action can lead to progress. When you actively engage with a situation, you have the opportunity to move forward and make improvements. For instance, in the story of the Israelites crossing the Red Sea, Moses did not wait for the waters to part miraculously before taking action. Instead, he followed God's command to lift his staff, and as a result, the waters parted, allowing the Israelites to escape from their pursuers and continue on their journey to freedom.
Moreover, it can build confidence and resilience. When you face challenges head-on and take steps to overcome them, you develop a sense of empowerment and self-assurance. For example, when David faced the giant Goliath, he did not shy away from the battle. Instead, he bravely stepped forward with his sling and stones, trusting in God's strength to help him defeat his opponent.
Similarly, when you just do something rather than nothing, you can create positive change. How so? Well, when you lead by example and demonstrate a willingness to take risks and pursue your goals, you encourage those around you to do the same.
However, if your doubts and anxieties hinder you, always turn to the Scripture and others for guidance.
Scripture serves as a roadmap for Christian living. It offers guidance on how to love God and others, navigate difficult situations, and live with integrity and purpose. Through prayerful study and reflection, you can gain a deeper understanding of God's will for your life and discern the next steps to take. Similarly, seeking advice from wise and mature believers can offer practical wisdom and encouragement as you seek to apply biblical principles to your everyday decisions and actions.
Remember that you are not alone in your journey of faith, and God has provided resources and support to help you grow and thrive.
So, just do something rather than nothing.
