LAWS CAN CHANGE WHEN GOD’S PEOPLE STEP IN
Esther did not save her people through prayer alone. It merely prepared her to challenge the laws of the day, risk her life and reputation, and use her voice to declare God’s intentions to a heathen ruler. She was given a scepter, and what was deemed unlikely and impossible in the natural, became reality because of both prayer and action. Laws were changed because God’s people stepped in.
The saints of old didn’t avoid interaction with the rulers of their day. On the contrary, when God’s people were threatened, He called them up and they gladly walked into the courts of men knowing the greater authority they carried. They used that authority to change atmospheres, change hearts, and even change laws. They gladly defended their faith and confronted the powers that be, not because they sought to be political, but because the righteousness of God compelled them. Their involvement not only turned the hearts of rulers, but turned the tide of nations.
There is a death sentence decreed against the people of God in this nation. Veiled as woke ideologies, we are being prepared for annihilation and enslavement to an anti-God system. Yes, we need to pray. But we also must take action and let our voice be heard. We must speak up in the public square, and exercise our rights as citizens to vote for those who are going to rule and make laws that will affect us. If we do not, the ungodly will rule by default. This is not the time to debate our role in civic affairs. We’ve been given a scepter and it’s time to use it. It’s time to exercise our Kingdom authority, first in prayer, and then in practice.
