Let "Happy" Work - Jewell Utt
This uplifting video was sent by my sister with the comment “I liked it.”
Well I liked it, too!
I love to see people express their joy through movement and dance. The tune is catchy, the verse simple, but the visuals are what speak to my heart. Art, movement and music evoke a deep response. They perk up my spirit and stimulate passion and creativity in seasons of dryness.
Winter is a difficult time. For me, it symbolizes death and stagnancy. When grey skies, cold weather and dirty plow-piles replace the usual greenery and flower edgings that artfully trim our roadways, my world looks dismal. I feel closed in and tired.
Seasons of dullness can be used as a time of rest OR an opportunity to step out of my “discomfort” zone. It takes a focused effort to keep on task and in good spirits this time of year. The video “Happy” demonstrates a connection between movement and life.
Whether I feel like it or not, I know I must move mentally, physically, and spiritually to beat the doldrums.
In this promise I find hope. And when I move closer to God I am reassured of life in abundance.
The LORD will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail. Isaiah 58:11(NIV)
