Light, Water, Food—Both Today and New Jerusalem
In New Jerusalem there is God in the Lamb as light (Rev. 21:23-24), the river of life flowing from the throne of God and the Lamb (22:1), and the tree of life growing and bearing fruit (22:2). In our present Christian life there is also God as our light (1 John 1:5-7), the Spirit flowing through us (John 7:38-39), and the Lord Jesus as the bread of life for our nourishment (John 6:35,47-48, 51).
We all need to be enjoying God the Father as the light, God the Spirit as the river, and God the Son as the tree in a daily way.
The divine light is shining to enlighten us, the river is flowing to saturate and supply us, and the tree is growing to be our life supply and meet our every need. Today we can enjoy such a Triune God, and this Triune God will be our triune enjoyment in full in the New Jerusalem.*
Lord, give us today and every day the foretaste of New Jerusalem’s divine light, the flowing river, and the supplying tree of life!
