Men's Support Group for Sex Addiction - Blazing Grace

Therefore, confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another so that you may be healed. The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much.
    James 5:16

He who separates himself seeks his own desire, he quarrels against all sound wisdom.
    Proverbs 18:1

Every Christian man needs to stay out of isolation on a consistent basis; transparency is meant to be a way of life, not a one-time event. For those who want to break away and stay free from porn addiction or other sexual sin, staying out of isolation is critical.

There are many support groups for sex or porn addiction that are “Come and dump groups,” that is, they confess their failures, feel a little better because they’ve temporarily off-loaded their shame, then go on their way. Those groups are often filled with men who never get better; they just repeat the same cycle.

Our weekly men’s group, which is held by phone conference call, includes the following elements:

Accountability:  sharing where you have been with any issues with lust since your last meeting.

    Support from other group members.

Input from Tim Peterson, the group leader. Tim leads our Men’s 8 Week Course,  and is a counselor and pastor. During the group call, Tim spends time with each group member and provides guidance in their journey. Tim’s emphasis is on the heart, and pointing you to an intimate relationship with God.

Encouragement to put the steps shown in Mike Genung’s book, The Road to Grace, Finding True Freedom from the Bondage of Sexual Addiction, into practice in your daily life. We suggest that you purchase The Road to Grace as it will be referenced in group discussions.

Our men’s accountability group meets weekly by phone conference call. There is an annual membership fee of $120.00, which allows you to participate in every meeting for a year. Please contact us for dates and times, and to sign up.

        Sometimes Healing Takes Time

I like instant. I like brewed coffee in a minute or less. I like microwaved leftovers in 45 seconds or less. I like instant text, instant on-line shopping, and instant movies at the click of a button. I’m not a fan of process but would rather have immediate results. One of my favorite words in the New Testament is “immediately.” “Immediately they received their sight” (Matthew 20:34). Read more...
