Marco Rubio on Faith, Freedom, and Finding Purpose

On The Greg Laurie Show, I had the opportunity to sit down with Secretary of State Marco Rubio in Washington, D.C. We talked about politics, family, the costs of living a public faith, and more. I have always admired his faith and how it motivates and moves him through life. In the midst of global crises, political pressure, and cultural issues, Marco shared with me how his faith keeps him grounded.

He said something for every Christian: “Of all the people in the world that shouldn’t be anxious about the future, it should be us.” Why? Because we know how the story ends. We know that Jesus is coming back. We know that there will be a new heaven and a new earth. This is a truth that keeps the Christian steady when the world feels like it’s spinning out of control—even the Secretary of State, someone who is exposed to the kind of information that we can only imagine could cause great alarm.

Faith doesn’t tell us we’ll never face hardship, but that we aren’t alone in it. That God walks with us. That He strengthens us. That He gives us peace that surpasses understanding.

Faith also guides us in the everyday. In our marriages. In our parenting. In our friendships. Marco reminded me that the most important thing happening in our country isn’t what’s going on in the White House—it’s what’s happening in your house. Because godly families lead to a flourishing nation; the family is our nation’s foundation. In fact, you could take almost every social ill in America today and directly relate it to the breakdown of the family, specifically the lack of fathers.

So wherever you are today—whether you’re leading a nation or leading your family—know this: Faith is your guide in it all. It’s your anchor. It’s your light in the darkness.
