John 6:4-15

4Now the Passover, the festival of the Jews, was near. 5When he looked up and saw a large crowd coming towards him, Jesus said to Philip, ‘Where are we to buy bread for these people to eat?’

6He said this to test him, for he himself knew what he was going to do. 7Philip answered him, ‘Six months’ wages* would not buy enough bread for each of them to get a little.’ 8One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, said to him,

9‘There is a boy here who has five barley loaves and two fish. But what are they among so many people?’

10Jesus said, ‘Make the people sit down.’ Now there was a great deal of grass in the place; so they* sat down, about five thousand in all.

11Then Jesus took the loaves, and when he had given thanks, he distributed them to those who were seated; so also the fish, as much as they wanted.

12When they were satisfied, he told his disciples, ‘Gather up the fragments left over, so that nothing may be lost.

13So they gathered them up, and from the fragments of the five barley loaves, left by those who had eaten, they filled twelve baskets.

14When the people saw the sign that he had done, they began to say, ‘This is indeed the prophet who is to come into the world.’

There is something in you the whole world is waiting for. God had deposited a blessing in you hands that will change the destiny of others. You need to rediscover yourself and manifest.

Do you remember the story of how Jesus turned five loaves of Bread and two fishes into a meal for five thousand people.. What is often remembered is the miracle of multiplication, and what is often forgotten is that Jesus did not perform the miracle from nothing. In other words, the loaves and fishes that feed five thousands did no come from the wind. It what not as if Jesus commanded the loaves of Bread and fishes to appear from no where.

A boy in the crowd had five loaves and two pieces of fish in his procession.

9‘There is a boy here who has five barley loaves and two fish. But what are they among so many people?’

If this small meal had not been in the procession of the boy, there would have been noting for Jesus to multiply.

What are the lessons of this passage?

  1. There is something in your hand that can bless a multitude and change the destiny of a generation. You just need to pray for the spirit of God to fall on it.
  2. Do not despise the days of a little beginning. Your beginning may be small, but the mustard seed will soon become an oak tree. Without the five loaves of Bread and two pieces of fishes, thousands would have died of hunger
  3. God is in the business of multiplication. In Genesis he commanded us to go and multiply. Jesus, the son, multiplier what was available. You have to start a Business before you can become a Businessman. God can only enlarge what you have started. If you refuse to lay your hands on anything, no matter how small, God will be limited to bless you.
  4. To experience the miracle of multiplication, you have to look to heavens and commit your ways and plans to God. Jesus took the five loaves and two pieces of bread and looked to heavens giving thanks. This also implies you must be thankful to God for your small beginnings.
  5. Your miracle is in your hands. Moses held a rod in his hands, and never knew it would become an instrument to deliver the Israelite from bondage.
