New Jerusalem Conforms to God’s Golden Standard

Revelation 21:15 says, “And he who spoke with me had a golden reed as a measure that he might measure the city and its gates and its wall.”

Gold in the Bible represents all that is of God. The city being measured with gold means that the city can be measured by God’s standard and corresponds with God’s standard. We need to seek God’s glory, hoping that we will be able to meet God’s standard when we are measured in that day.*

New JerusalemHow can we correspond with God’s standard? Not by ourselves. But 2 Peter 1:3-4 is encouraging; “His divine power has granted to us all things which relate to life and godliness, through the full knowledge of Him who has called us by His own glory and virtue, through which He has granted to us precious and exceedingly great promises that through these you might become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption which is in the world by lust.”

He has granted us so much. We have received His initial salvation, which is firm eternally, but we need to receive more of all the things related to life and godliness.

We also need to spend time in the Bible daily to see and open to experience of the great promises God has given to us. By practice and exercise (Heb. 5:13-14) we partake of the divine nature, the golden nature of New Jerusalem. Lord, remind me to exercise daily, to build up the habit of partaking of Your divine nature.
