New Jerusalem for God’s Expression
All the saints of both the Old Testament and the New Testament are the components, the constituents, of the New Jerusalem for God’s expression. All the saints are God’s regenerated and transformed children. They are the sons of God spoken of in Revelation 21:7. Having God’s life and nature, they are different from the peoples spoken of in Revelation 21:3, who are the nations around the New Jerusalem in Revelation 21:24 and 22:2.*
The peoples, the nations mentioned in Revelation 21 are plural. They are different from God’s regenerated people who “are one Body in Christ” (Rom. 12:5). More about these nations is in the seven posts that begin with The Nations around New Jerusalem.
We who have believed into Christ are one not in ourselves but because we are in Him and we have His life and nature. This is “the oneness of the Spirit…one Body and one Spirit…one Lord…one God and Father of all” in Ephesians 4:3-6. As the divine life grows in us this oneness is strengthened unto eternal completion and fullness in New Jerusalem.
