New Jerusalem is the Eternal Lampstand
As a mountain of gold, the New Jerusalem is the ultimate, unique, and eternal golden lampstand. Upon this stand is a lamp—Christ with God in Him as the light shining out through eternity. The holy city as a mountain of gold is the aggregate of all the lampstands (Rev. 1:20), the totality of today’s lampstands, shining forth God’s glory in eternity in the new heaven and the new earth.*
New Jerusalem is a mountain with a throne at the top. This is “the throne of God and of the Lamb.” Out of this throne flows the river of water of life (Rev. 22:1).
From this throne shines the light; “the city has no need of the sun or of the moon that they should shine in it, for the glory of God illumined it, and its lamp is the Lamb” (Rev. 21:23).
Today the churches are the lampstands. Revelation 1:12-20 speaks about seven golden lampstands. The number seven is for completion of God’s work in this age. Twelve is for eternal completion.
These seven lampstands are golden, like New Jerusalem, and they shine in the same way as New Jerusalem—the glory of God in the Lamb, Jesus Christ, as the divine lamp.
