New Jerusalem Radiates the Glory of God

Revelation 21:23 describes New Jerusalem, “the city has no need of the sun or of the moon that they should shine in it, for the glory of God illumined it, and its lamp is the Lamb.” The whole city has “the glory of God” (21:11).

New JerusalemThe New Jerusalem does not need any natural or man-made light, because God Himself is the light of the city. Light is the nature of God’s expression. God Himself is signified as gold in His intrinsic nature, and God being light denotes His nature in His expression. When this light shines, this shining becomes His glory. The first two striking things about the New Jerusalem are the gold and the shining glory. The triune expression of the Father as the source of all the divine riches is based upon His golden nature in His shining glory.*

This expression originates from God to radiate through His people built together, as presented in Ephesians 2:20-22 —”you are…being built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus Himself being the cornerstone; in whom all the building, being fitted together, is growing into a holy temple in the Lord; in whom you also are being built together into a dwelling place of God in spirit.”

What God in Christ is building today will expand to New Jerusalem in the future. This builded city will radiate God’s glory.

    Sometimes Healing Takes Time

I like instant. I like brewed coffee in a minute or less. I like microwaved leftovers in 45 seconds or less. I like instant text, instant on-line shopping, and instant movies at the click of a button. I’m not a fan of process but would rather have immediate results. One of my favorite words in the New Testament is “immediately.” “Immediately they received their sight” (Matthew 20:34). Read more...
