OK Name Some Names
Excerpt from My Book
The Shut Up Book
A 40 day Approach to Controlling your Mouth
Colossians 4:6
Let your speech always be with grace seasoned as it were with salt so that you may know how you should respond to each other.
Seasoned with grace. Wow, can I buy some of that spice at the grocery store? Grace can simply be defined as, “undeserved favor”. You and I, all of us need grace. We deserve justice, but we need grace. We deserve punishment for doing wrong, but we need a favor.
This book was written to help tame our mouths, to control our urge to lash out, ridicule and hurt others with our words. A big dose of grace will solve our mouth problem.
People hurt you; they have taken advantage of your kindness and have done you wrong. This recipe of your anger and resentment is boiling over in that pot of stew called your life. Pour a dose of grace into the mix. Your life is too spicy anyway; give yourself a bit of grace to cool the heat.
They don’t deserve it, but do it anyway. Grace will cool the anger, take away the bitterness and make the meal of your life more palatable. Before you lash out give a seasoned dose of “undeserved favor”.
- OK name some names. Who is giving you problems today?
- How can you provide those trouble makers with some of God’s grace? I know it isn’t easy but do it anyway. Ahh, doesn’t that feel better.
- How can you give yourself some grace? How can you give yourself a break? Sometimes we punish ourselves. Let God’s grace cool you down.
