Once you form a relationship with God, know that it is not something fragile
Romans 8:38-39:
"And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love."
Have you ever heard of dragon beard candy? It is a traditional confection that originates from Asia, meticulously crafted by masterful hands. The process begins with boiling sugar to create a thick, sweet syrup. Next comes the pulling and stretching of the syrup into countless fine threads.
Imagine this meticulous technique: each pull, each twist, adds to the intricate structure. Yet, the fragility becomes evident as you realize that one wrong move can lead to the entire creation unraveling before your eyes.
Fragile, is it not? Just like that candy, some Christians worry about the fragility of their relationship with God. The fear lingers: will a misstep or a certain number of sins shatter the ties they have built with the divine?
However, God knew that humans are prone to the temptations of sin.
This understanding led God to send Christ to Earth, allowing Him to endure the cross's sacrifice.
By willingly taking on the burden of sin and conquering death on the cross, Christ provides a way for you to approach God without being engulfed by the consequences of sin.
Moreover, in Romans 8:38-39, it says nothing can separate you from God's love.
When it talks about "neither death nor life," it means that whether you are alive or after death, God's love is constant. "Neither angels nor demons" signifies that neither heavenly beings nor dark forces can cut off the connection between you and God. "Neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow" cover all your anxieties; today or tomorrow, God's love remains unchanged.
"Not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love" assures that even the worst, the depths of sin and evil, cannot sever your link to God. The verse is a strong statement that God's love is beyond anything. It is an unbreakable bond that stands firm, giving you confidence and peace in your journey with Him.
Yet, it is crucial to understand that the assurance of God's enduring love does not grant a license to persist in wrongdoing.
As a Christian, your commitment to living in accordance with your faith remains paramount. It entails a conscious effort to align your actions with the principles laid out in God's teachings. Striving for righteousness is an integral part of your journey as a believer.
Inevitably, there may be instances when you falter and succumb to the temptations that surround you. In such moments, the avenue of prayer opens up to you—a privilege inherent in your relationship with God.
Through prayer, you can address your shortcomings, seeking forgiveness for any transgressions and renewing your commitment to the path of righteousness. It is an acknowledgment of your dependence on Him for strength, guidance, and resilience in the face of temptation.
