The continuous process of healing from anxiety
In a video shared by Encounter Ministries, Angela, a woman who grappled with anxiety throughout her entire life, she bravely shared her journey toward inner healing. As a child, the weight of anxiety remained elusive to her awareness.
However, the impact became starkly apparent as an adult, influencing her life and relationships. Anxiety was not merely a thief of sleep or a generator of relentless negative thoughts; it morphed her into a reactive version of herself that felt unfamiliar.
You, like Angela, might find echoes of your struggles in her story. The grip of anxiety often underestimated, extends beyond personal suffering. It can transform how you interact with others, distancing you from the person you strive to be.
And so, you seek healing.
Despite your unwavering commitment to healing, the journey is far from easy. It is a path laden with uncertainties, where not every method promises relief. You may have considered counseling, hoping to untangle the knots of anxiety, only to find that it does not weave the same results for everyone.
Even Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), a therapeutic technique designed to process distressing memories, might not be the magic remedy you anticipated.
The allure of medication as a solution is not lost on you either. However, as you delve into this option, you may discover that what worked wonders for others does not necessarily translate into the same relief for you.
The hope that accompanies each attempt may gradually wane, leaving you grappling with a sense of hopelessness.
Such was the same for Angela. She did not know how she was going to get healed. But she did not give up.
She sought Encounter’s Healing Ministry, and its members were the ones who helped her through a series of prayers, starting with forgiveness.
The anchor of past wounds may weigh heavily on you, entwining with your anxiety. Yet, Angela's journey suggests a profound avenue for liberation – forgiveness. By choosing to forgive, you have the power to release the burdensome weight of old grievances.
Angela, like you, engaged in a reflective process, identifying people and situations that required her forgiveness. Some of these instances had long been buried in the recesses of her memory. However, the deliberate act of forgiveness emerged as a revelation – not a mere sentiment to be granted at will.
Through this deliberate forgiveness, Angela experienced a lifting of burdens. This prompted her to persist in the healing process, continuously seeking guidance from Jesus. With each session, she fervently asked for the revelation of truth and the divine design for her life. This deliberate action of seeking truth unraveled the falsehoods woven by anxiety, gradually lifting the veil that obscured her path.
Yet, despite these strides, complete healing remained elusive.
In this case, you might think, “What is the point? If it did not work for her, surely, it will not work for me.”
Healing from anxiety is not a quick fix; it is a continual journey.
It does not happen in just a few sessions but unfolds gradually over time. Amidst the struggles, turn to Him in prayer each time anxiety grips you.
As you consistently seek solace in prayer, healing unfolds bit by bit. Gradually, you find yourself breaking free from the chains of anxiety. It is an ongoing process that requires patience and persistence. With time, you reach a point where you can confidently declare, "I am free from anxiety's chains."
In this newfound freedom, you rediscover your true self. The gifts bestowed upon you by God become more evident and accessible.
