Awake my Soul: 4 Inspiring Ways to Fully Embrace God's Love
Awake my soul! How to walk in grace and embrace God’s love for you.
How often do we stand in church on a Sunday, singing worship songs that never quite reach our hearts? The music plays, the lyrics are familiar, but our souls feel untouched.
We’re present in body, but not in spirit.
How often do we quote popular verses like, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me,” yet the words pass over us without sinking in?
How often do we say, “I’m praying for you,” but never actually lift that person in prayer?
Those become empty words—spoken out of habit rather than sincerity.
Let’s be real—this walk of faith requires more than surface-level devotion.
The only way we’ll ever fully embrace the gift of God’s constant, unfailing love is through surrender.
To lay it all—our fears, our pride, our distractions—at the feet of Jesus.
He doesn’t want half-hearted worship or lukewarm faith. No more one foot in and one foot out.
God invites us in with open arms, not with judgment, but with grace.
He promises, “Whoever comes to me I will never drive away” John 6:37.
God’s not asking for perfection—He’s asking for our whole hearts.
#1 Awake My Soul To Hold Me Steady
Simply knowing God and having a relationship with Him is what keeps us steady.
Living in His presence brings peace and strength.
As Psalm 46:1 reminds us, “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.”
He is our flashlight of hope in a world that often resists His light. Spiritual warfare doesn’t take a day off—the struggle is real, and the enemy seeks to bring us down with whatever giant we may be facing.
The promises of how to defeat those giants are found in His Word.
It’s through the power of the Holy Spirit that our hearts and minds are kept steady, free from fear and doubt, where the battle is either lost or won—within the soul.
God also holds us steady through the love of others.
He works through our families, our friends, and our brothers and sisters in Christ to encourage and support us when we start to shake.
And we are never alone—His angel armies are always by our side.
#2 Awake My Soul to Sing
We are all instruments in the hands of God. You don’t need to be a great singer to bring Him a joyful sound.
True worship comes from the heart—not from perfect pitch or hitting every note.
Some days, my mind is so full of noise and static that I can’t even think. But on days like that, I find myself drawn back to the heart of worship.
We don’t sing to perform. We sing because He is worthy—because of who He is, not who we are.
As the old hymn says:
Because He lives, I can face tomorrow!
Because He lives,
All fear is gone
Because I know
He holds the future
And life is worth the living,
Just because He lives!
#3 Awake My Soul to Not Fear
The Bible tells us 365 times not to fear—phrases like “do not fear,” “do not be afraid,” and “fear not” appear as daily reminders throughout the year.
Because fear constantly pounds on our doors, God extends an invitation to open the door of trust, the door of power, and the door of His presence.
He is the fourth person standing with us in the fire, never leaving our side.
A few verses remind us of this truth:
“Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.”
Psalm 23:4
“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
Isaiah 41:10
No matter how fierce the battle, peace can be found in the love of Christ.
Open your heart and eyes to see and feel His presence—the only presence that truly sustains and empowers.
Nothing holds more power than His mighty weapons of grace and truth.
#4 Awake My Soul to Surrender
We were never meant to carry the weight of this world on our own—we simply don’t have the strength or power to do so.
Surrender is an act of trust, a choice to believe that God’s timing is always perfect, not based on what we’re trying to force or rush before its time.
Sometimes, you just have to let go. That’s what faith is, isn’t it? Trusting that God holds your life—and your giants—in His hands.
Surrender also comes through obedience. It’s making space for God in our daily lives, no matter how busy or chaotic things become.
Just as we prioritize time for our spouse, our children, and those we love, we must also prioritize time with the One who holds our hearts and knows us completely.
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.”
Proverbs 3:5–6
“Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”
James 4:7
The biggest giant in my life is living with Bipolar I Disorder—a condition that is often misunderstood and has no cure.
Every day is a battle. But I’ve found my victory in this: my only true peace comes from knowing God. I may not have all the answers, but I trust the One who does.
Because of the blood shed on the cross, we are invited—welcomed—into the presence of the Father.
His call is simple: Come. Come to the altar. Come and surrender to the only actual Giant Slayer–no more empty hallelujahs.
Let it be true this time, God, awake my soul, we are ready.
