Deuteronomy 4:24 – For the LORD thy God is a consuming fire, even a jealous God.

God wants to be worshipped alone.
He does not want His glory to be shared with anybody.
Idolatry is a sin that will provoke the jealousy of God.
The jealousy of God brings judgment on offenders.
