Rahab's Faith and The gospel

The story of Rahab in Joshua 2 is incredible! God used a woman caught up in the sin of prostitution to protect His people and give them the land He promised them. She wasn't pure, modest, or anything we'd think God could use.

Yet, she is an example of deep faith, and she's found in Jesus' genealogy, in the Hall of faith (Hebrews 11:31), and in the book of James as examples of faith in action (James 2:25). God brought her out of the darkness of her sin and into His marvelous light.

God doesn't need you to clean yourself up to use you. He can give you a new heart, new desires, and set you on a new trajectory in an instant. You'll come as you are, but you'll leave a different person. Your identity and life won't be wrapped up in the same old sins you once committed. You'll turn from that life and embrace His life.

Like a cool breeze on a scorching day, you'll find relief. Seemingly out of nowhere, you'll desire to repent and stop doing wrong. You'll want to please God, do His will, and give Him glory. You'll hear His call to repentance and faith, and you'll run to Him.

That's the beauty of the gospel. Like Rahab, we've all been deep in our sin. Sin is deep in us. Yet, when we encounter God as He has revealed Himself in Christ, we see hope and a Savior. We see with new eyes. We see the God who is in the heavens above and the earth beneath.

But we aren't offended or afraid or angry anymore. We are drawn to Him.

Perhaps God is drawing you now. You've been thinking about coming to church or reading your Bible. You're curious about spiritual things. You know you're not living right, but you can't seem to get your act together.

Now is the time to look to the Savior on the cross. Jesus died on the cross to pay for your sins. The cross isn't just a nice emblem on a necklace. It's not just a decoration for church. It's a sign of God's love in sending His Son to die so we could have life. That's the greatest exchange ever known!

The call is clear—turn from your sins and run to Jesus. Call on His name and follow Him in faith. He will give you everything you need to live a godly life (2 Peter 1:3). And when you respond in faith, you'll have a whole new life. Then, find a solid godly Church community and grow together with them.
Today is the day for you. Call on the name of Jesus!
