Reasons for unanswered prayers: Secret and hidden sins

There are many reasons for unanswered prayers, one of these is secret sin. There is a sin only known to you. Repent of it, otherwise it may cause afflictions in your life in future..The story of Rachel’s secret sin is a case in reference

Read Genesis 31 vs 19: And Laban has gone to shear his sheep, and Rachel has stolen the images that are his father’s.

1. There was a secret sin in the life of Rachel that was only known to her.
2. She stole her father’s idol, and when her father searched for it, she sat on the idol and refused to get up, and said she was experiencing her menstrual cycle. (Genesis 31 vs 35)
3. Rachel’s sin was three in One. She committed stealing by taking images that were not hers; she committed idolatry by having in her possession idols; and she committed lying by claiming she was undergoing her menses, actually she was not.
4. What is the effect of secret sins? Rachel brought a curse upon herself. Her husband-Jacob who was totally unaware that Rachel her wife had stolen Laban’s idols, pronounced a curse of death on anyone found in possession of the idols: ‘With whosoever that findeth thy gods, let him not live’ –Genesis 31 vs 32.
5. The curse waited for Rachel in the future, as she died prematurely, in pain, and hard labour as she gave birth to Benjamin-Genesis 35 vs 16-19.
6. What are the secrets sins in your life that you have refused to confess to anybody? Is it adultery, stealing, masturbation, fornication, idolatry, or pornography?
7. Rachel was a victim of her husband’s innocent curse. Of course God rubber stamp Jacob’s curse because He is a jealous God and had warned the Israelites against idolatry. If she had confessed her sin to at least her husband, maybe the story of Rachel would have been different. May God not become your enemy in Jesus name.
8. Would you confess your sins to Jesus today, so that He can save you? And also save yourself the future repercussions of your sin?
