Luke 9 vs. 28-29
28 And it came to pass about an eight days after these sayings, he took Peter and John and James, and went up into a mountain to pray. 29 And as he prayed, the fashion of his countenance was altered, and his raiment was white and glistering.
- Prayer illiterates: These may be new Christian converts who do not know how to pray. Students of this school do not know how to pray at all. They are usually sad when called to pray. They are spiritually cold.
- School of ice cream prayers: These are people who can barely pray for one minute. They can stay for several day days, weeks, and even a month without saying a mouth of prayer. And when they pray, the best they could do is say ‘Thank you, God, in Jesus’ name’ or simply share the grace of God. They often complain when a prayer lasts longer.
- School of beggarly prayer: These are people who pray at times for between 2-5 minutes, but their prayers are not backed with any Bible scripture. Any prayer that is not word-based is akin to the prayers of beggars, who pray for people all day, yet their prayers are unanswered. The prayers of students in this school are like fire and spark that are ineffective.
- School of ordinary level prayer: These are typically born-again Christians who occasionally pray both in the spirit and in understanding for upwards to 10 minutes. Their prayers are often spiced with scriptures. However, students of this school do not devote quality time to prayer, neither for them to make sacrificial prayers at lonely places or at midnights. Students of this school do not persist in the prayer altar and give up when prayers seem unanswered.
- School of prayer majors:
- They combine prayers with fasting
- They can pray in the spirit and understanding for long hours
- Prayer is their hubby
- They are versed in the word and back up their prayers with scriptures
- They are spiritually hot.
- School of prayer warriors
- They know all the relevant scriptures – deliverance, prosperity, healing, and salvation scriptures.
- They are addicted to prayer and seize every opportunity to pray
- They can pray for six hours for 6 hours nonstop
- Their prayers do not fall to the ground. It is powerful and effective.
- They pray both in the spirit and understanding in lonely places at day and night.
- They are flames of fire
