Self Care for Christian Moms: Homeschool Edition - Julie Naturally | Health Coach | Personal Trainer

One of the biggest struggles for homeschool moms besides that nagging feeling that we aren’t doing enough, is taking care of ourselves. We put our children’s needs first–their physical, emotional and spiritual, and educational needs. And, when they are very small, this is appropriate. However, if we do not address our own needs, we soon become sick, burned out, resentful, and depressed. These ideas for self care for Christian moms are designed to be simple, accessible, and realistic. You can use them even if all your children are under age 6.

Over the next ten days, I will take a deep dive into each of these ideas of self care for Christian moms so you know how and when to try them. After 23 years of homeschooling, I can say that many of these helped me make it through some very hard days. Looking back, I know my children learned some valuable lessons from my self care efforts.

First, my daughters learned that they don’t have to be martyrs to be mothers. Second, my children learned how to meet their own needs and that they were not entitled to my service to them. In other words, they did not take me for granted and expect me to do everything for them. And third, they learned how to set boundaries and care for themselves, even if they didn’t always do it.

And, ladies, banish the mom guilt! One thing that I have heard from many coaching clients is that they feel guilty for having needs of their own. Women, especially, feel guilty. It’s as if everyone’s feelings and needs matter except theirs. Ladies, please, please, use these these tips for self care for Christian moms and embrace the truth that Your Heavenly Father says You Matter and You are Precious!
