Act 12 vs 22-23 22 And the people gave a shout, saying, It is the voice of a god, and not of a man. 23 And immediately the angel of the Lord smote him, because he gave not God the glory: and he was eaten of worms, and gave up the ghost.

  1. The Bible says on a particular day, King Herod gives an oration and the people praise him that this is the voice of God and not of man. Acts 12:23 Immediately, because Herod did not give glory to God, an angel of the Lord struck him down, and he was eaten by worms and died.
  2. The Bible also says, immediately, the Angels of God slapped him because he did not give God the glory.
  3. Herod was eaten by a worm and died suddenly.
  4. When men are praising you for any achievement and you do not give God the glory, you are sinning.
  5. When men congratulate you for any achievement and you do not give God the glory, you fall into the error of Herod.
  6. So, you must avoid the sin of self-glorification.
  7. Paul avoided self-glorification in Act 14:15 by refusing to accept sacrifices because the people of Nystya thought he was a God.
