Act 12 vs 22-23 22 And the people gave a shout, saying, It is the voice of a god, and not of a man. 23 And immediately the angel of the Lord smote him, because he gave not God the glory: and he was eaten of worms, and gave up the ghost.
- The Bible says on a particular day, King Herod gives an oration and the people praise him that this is the voice of God and not of man.
- The Bible also says, immediately, the Angels of God slapped him because he did not give God the glory.
- Herod was eaten by a worm and died suddenly.
- When men are praising you for any achievement and you do not give God the glory, you are sinning.
- When men congratulate you for any achievement and you do not give God the glory, you fall into the error of Herod.
- So, you must avoid the sin of self-glorification.
- Paul avoided self-glorification in Act 14:15 by refusing to accept sacrifices because the people of Nystya thought he was a God.
