1.     He was personally called by Jesus Christ into the ministry, to become fishers of men. –  Mathew 4 vs. 18-1918 And Jesus, walking by the sea of Galilee, saw two brethren, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers.  19And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.

2.     He initially obeyed Jesus immediately and followed him. – Mathew 4 vs. 20And they straightway left their nets, and followed him.

3.     He is regarded as the first of the Apostles of Jesus – Mathew 10 vs. 2 Now the names of the twelve apostles are these; The first, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother; James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother;

4.     Jesus anointed him and the other disciples giving them power over unclean spirits, and to do miracles- Mathew 10 vs. 1And when he had called unto him his twelve disciples, he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease.

5.     Jesus appointed him and other disciples as Evangelists and commissioned them as soul winners- Mathew 10 vs. 7 And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand.

6.      He tried to perform the miracle of walking on the Sea like Jesus, but his faith failed him. – Mathew 14 vs. 29- 31 – 29 And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus. 30 But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me. 31 And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?

7.     Jesus blessed him. – Mathew 16 vs. 17And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.

8.      Jesus changed his name from Simon Barjona to Simon Peter. Peter means rock. – Mathew 16 vs. 17- 1817 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

9.      Jesus prophesized that Peter will be the leader of the new Church of Christ-  Mathew 16 vs. 18 – 18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

10.  Jesus further anointed Peter, giving him powers to bind and lose anything on earth and in heaven. – Mathew 16 vs. 19And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

11.  He was one of the closest disciples to Jesus, he was one of the three that witnessed the transfiguration of Jesus on a high mountain- Mathew 17 vs. 1And after six days Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into an high mountain apart,

12.  Jesus prophesized that Peter will deny him. – Mathew 26 vs. 34Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, That this night, before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice.

13.  He vowed never to deny Jesus. – Mathew 26 vs. 35 –  Peter said unto him, Though I should die with thee, yet will I not deny thee. Likewise also said all the disciples, even at the risk or point of death.

14.  He was sleeping when he should be watching and praying. – Mathew 26 vs. 40And he cometh unto the disciples, and findeth them asleep, and saith unto Peter, What, could ye not watch with me one hour?

15.  He could not intercede for Jesus for one hour. – Mathew 26 vs. 40And he cometh unto the disciples, and findeth them asleep, and saith unto Peter, What, could ye not watch with me one hour?

16.  He could not stand up and pray at night. –Mathew 26 vs. 43And he came and found them asleep again: for their eyes were heavy.

17.  He was resting when he and other disciples should stand up and pray. – Mathew 26 vs. 45Then cometh he to his disciples, and saith unto them, Sleep on now, and take your rest: behold, the hour is at hand, and the Son of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.

18.  Jesus became disappointed by his prayerlessness and that of the other disciples; mocking them to sleep on. – Mathew 26 vs. 45Then cometh he to his disciples, and saith unto them, Sleep on now, and take your rest: behold, the hour is at hand, and the Son of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.

19.  He denied being disciple of Jesus. – Mathew 26 vs. 70  But he denied before them all, saying, I know not what thou sayest

20.  He denied on oath ever knowing Jesus. – Mathew 26 vs. 72And again he denied with an oath, I do not know the man.

21.  He denied ever following Jesus, and placed a curse on himself if it was so. – Mathew 26 vs. 74 Then began he to curse and to swear, saying, I know not the man. And immediately the cock crew.

22.  Jesus appeared to him and others and imparted them with the Holy Ghost- John 20 vs. 22And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost:

23.  Jesus appeared to him and other disciples and showed them many signs so that they may believe. – John 20 vs. 30And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book:

24.  He led about six disciples to abandon the work of God for secular work, fishing for money instead of fishing for souls. – John 21 vs. 2- 3 – There were together Simon Peter, and Thomas called Didymus, and Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, and the sons of Zebedee, and two other of his disciples.Simon Peter saith unto them, I go a fishing. They say unto him, We also go with thee. They went forth, and entered into a ship immediately; and that night they caught nothing.

25.  He labored and made losses because he abandoned the work of God. – John 21 vs. 3Simon Peter saith unto them, I go a fishing. They say unto him, We also go with thee. They went forth, and entered into a ship immediately; and that night they caught nothing.

26.  He does not recognize Jesus again because he was engrossed in worldly pursuits. – John 21 vs. 4 But when the morning was now come, Jesus stood on the shore: but the disciples knew not that it was Jesus.

27.  Jesus mocked his foolishness, not knowing he cannot not make money without the help of God.  – John 21 vs. 5  Then Jesus saith unto them, Children, have ye any meat? They answered him, No.

28.  Jesus stepped into his situation. – John 21 vs. 4But when the morning was now come, Jesus stood on the shore: but the disciples knew not that it was Jesus.

29.  He received divine direction on how to become successful in business. – John 21 vs. 6And he said unto them, Cast the net on the right side of the ship, and ye shall find. They cast therefore, and now they were not able to draw it for the multitude of fishes.

30.   Jesus asked Peter thrice, if he truly loves him. – John 21 vs. 15-18 15 So when they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my lambs.16 He saith to him again the second time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my sheep.17 He saith unto him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep.18 Verily, verily, I say unto thee, When thou wast young, thou girdest thyself, and walkedst whither thou wouldest: but when thou shalt be old, thou shalt stretch forth thy hands, and another shall gird thee, and carry thee whither thou wouldest not.

31.  Jesus urged Peter to win Souls for him, rather than pursuing money. – John 21 vs. 15- 1715 So when they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my lambs.16 He saith to him again the second time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my sheep.17 He saith unto him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep

32.  Jesus prophesized the future of Peter. – John 21 vs. 18Verily, verily, I say unto thee, When thou wast young, thou girdest thyself, and walkedst whither thou wouldest: but when thou shalt be old, thou shalt stretch forth thy hands, and another shall gird thee, and carry thee whither thou wouldest not.
