Spring near Greenville, SC
Spring is a time of freshness and new and that’s exactly what we experienced at Pretty Place, a beautiful erected cross in the mountains in South Carolina. This cross which has been around for dozens of years at the YMCA Camp Greenville, helped the bros and I center our hearts on what is right during spring.
1 – Pretty Place (YMCA Chapel): Decades later and raising our boys now in a born-again, Christian home, I wanted to make our own Holy Week tradition for our little family. I discovered a mountainous place referred to as Pretty Place, lodged on the top of the Blue Ridge Mountains just over an hour from our home. Pretty Place is owned by YMCA Camp Greenville and while it is known by its charming nickname, its actual name is Fred W. Symmes Chapel.
What makes Pretty Place unique is that is a free-to-access, freestanding chapel offering amazing views of the mountains. Yet, the real star of Pretty Place is the gorgeous, wooden cross placed right down the center of the church aisle. I had read so many different articles on spiritual experiences there and knew I wanted to bring our little family there during Holy Week each year.
