St. Joseph: Man of Dreams, Man on Action | HealthWealthVictory

Do you ask God about His will for your life? Be like St. Joseph, a man who dreams the will of God and immediately acts on them. Truly, St. Joseph is a man of dreams, a man of action.

Matthew 1:16, 18-21, 24A

16 Jacob was the father of Joseph, the husband of Mary. Of her was born Jesus who is called the Christ.

18 Now this is how the birth of Jesus Christ came about. When his mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph, but before they lived together, she was found with child through the Holy Spirit.

19 Joseph her husband, since he was a righteous man, yet unwilling to expose her to shame, decided to divorce her quietly.

20 Such was his intention when, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary your wife into your home. For it is through the Holy Spirit that this child has been conceived in her. 21 She will bear a son and you are to name him Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.”

24 When Joseph awoke, he did as the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took his wife into his home.

Receiving dreams from God

As we celebrate the feast of St. Joseph, spouse of the Blessed Virgin Mary, and foster father of Jesus, I’m reminded of the person I want to become.

Joseph had his life planned out. He’s going to marry Mary. And definitely make a family of his own.

But having found out Mary is pregnant, not by him, he then planned to divorce her quietly since exposing Mary’s infidelity would mean sure death for her.

I liked the way, the priest narrated what happened next.

He said, “God entered the picture and rewrote their love story.”

Matthew 1

How I wish I could hear God’s directives for my life clearly like that in a dream.

But do you know we also have the assurance that we will hear from God clearly?

The Lord will make you go through hard times, but he himself will be there to teach you, and you will not have to search for him any more.

If you wander off the road to the right or the left, you will hear his voice behind you saying, “Here is the road. Follow it.” Isaiah 30:20‭-‬21 GNBDK

When we really listen, we will hear God speaking in our spirit showing us what to do in every situation we are in.

But do we listen for God’s instructions?

And when we do hear from God, do we obey immediately or if at all?

Joseph did.

24 When Joseph awoke, he did as the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took his wife into his home. Matthew 1

Taking Action on your dreams from God

There are only a couple of chapters where St. Joseph was mentioned in the bible.

But always, it shows him receiving God’s will and directives in dreams and him taking action accordingly as soon as he wakes up.

In so doing, he played a major role in the story of our salvation, taking care of the family God, Mary and Jesus, entrusted to him for care and protection.

He truly is a man of dreams, a man of action.

The priest’s homily on this occasion is really beautiful.

He said yes, we have dreams of our own, things we want to happen in our lives.

But God also has dreams.

And His dream is to bring all the people of the world back to Him.

Are we willing, like Joseph, to lay down our dreams so we can help fulfill God’s dream?

Are we willing to surrender our will to obey the will of God so His dream can come true?

You know what’s so amazing about God?

When we set out to help fulfill His dream, He fulfills our dreams in the process.

So much more than we can ever ask or imagine.

Joseph only dreamed of having a family of his own. But he surrendered that dream to take care of God’s family entrusted to him.

Now, generations later, he’s got the whole church, the family of God, honoring him on his feast day, March 19.

God made St. Joseph the patron and protector of the Universal Church, God’s family.

Now Joseph’s very own too.

Now your turn

Do you ask God about His will and dream for your life?

Seek God and His perfect will for your life.

Take as your example St. Joseph, a man of dreams, a man of action.

I’ll leave you with God’s promise of guidance for He always wants us to profit.

Good news for men and women, like me, in business.

But good news for you too, whatever your work is at the moment.

By the way, you can pray and ask prayers for your work too from St. Joseph.

He’s not only the protector and patron of the Universal Church, he’s also the patron of workers.

Like you and me.

Working for the fulfillment of God’s dreams, believing Him to take care of our dreams.

So just as Jesus, as a Child, depended on St. Joseph, His foster father, we ask him to pray for us as children of the family of God.

St. Joseph, pray for us.

Oh, here’s the verse:

This is what the Lord, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel says, “I am the Lord your God, who teaches you to profit (benefit), Who leads you in the way that you should go. Isaiah 48:17 AMP
