TEACHING AND REMINDING BY THE SPIRIT...
John 14:26 NKJV
"But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you."
This is the age in which we live now.
The Holy Spirit is already here. The heavenly Father sent him in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.
For what?
If he's here, what would he be doing?
You know, there is nothing lazy about God.
The Spirit has come to work and operate on earth.
What is He doing now?
According to John 14.26, He has come to teach us all things and bring to our remembrance all that Jesus said.
So, the Spirit is at work in our MIND and in our MEMORY.
To educate our heart and mind. To enlighten us.
Not only that, he has also come to improve our memory concerning the words of the Lord Jesus.
First, he will be our TEACHER.
Second, he will be our REMINDER.
We humans don't retain things for long. Our hearts can't keep things forever.
Knowledge becomes stale. What we learn dissappear from our consciousness.
That's why the heavenly Father sent the Holy Spirit. To remind us and keep the words of Christ fresh in our hearts and minds.
Come to think of it. No need to worry about forgetting what Jesus said. And we don't have to memorise Scriptures.
The Holy Spirit has come to remind us the word and bring it to our remembrance.
This means we have to know it first. You can't remember what you never know and read.
So, as we read the Scriptures, let us be encouraged with the fact that the Spirit will bring to our remembrance exactly what we need.
But more than that. The Spirit wants to be our teacher.
He wants to explain and make clear the words of Jesus.
One thing you will notice in the Gospels is that the disciples had problems in understanding the words and actions of Christ. They were confused several times. And they were even afraid to ask questions.
Now, Jesus has changed all that.
There's a new person now in our lives. Who will take what Jesus said and make it plain to us. So we can grasp it and use it for living.
The beautiful thing is that this Spirit does not live far away from us. He lives right within us!
So we have a teacher and a reminder living right within us.
John 14:17 NKJV
"the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be IN YOU."
Now, let's get back to school of life with the Spirit. He's our teacher. The textbook is the Scriptures.
And when the tests of life come, He'll remind us the exact words of Christ to overcome and pass the tests.
