The Body of Christ to New Jerusalem
The Lord Jesus said that He would build His church, which is His Body (Eph. 1:22-23). The recent posts present verses which show that He accomplishes this building work by a rich supply flowing out of Himself so that He as life may grow in all His members.
The Body of Christ blended with all God’s Old Testament people will be New Jerusalem. Don’t think that the Lord will take a giant step backward from His Body built with Himself as life to a physical city built with lifeless materials. No! Rather, New Jerusalem will be an enlargement of the Body of Christ, a further development of all He is doing in this age.
New Jerusalem is a living composition of God in all His people and all His people in Him. This is the consummation of the Lord’s word in John 14:20, that in resurrection “you will know that I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you.”
New Jerusalem is also the final reality of Ephesians 2:20-21, “Christ Jesus Himself…in whom all the building, being fitted together, is growing into a holy temple in the Lord.” This is absolutely not a physical building. This is heavenly and it will be glorious!
