The One Street of New Jerusalem

“The street of the city was pure gold, like transparent glass.” (Rev. 21:21) “And he showed me a river of water of life, bright as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb in the middle of its street.” (22:1)
The New Jerusalem has a street from the throne of God and of the Lamb spiraling through the entire city to reach the twelve gates of the city on its four sides, for communication (Rev. 22:1c). The New Jerusalem has only one street. This street is not straight but a spiral. It spirals down from the throne to reach all the twelve gates. There are three gates on the north, three gates on the south, three gates on the east, and three gates on the west. This one street from the throne reaches all the gates by spiraling.*
Unlike human cities, New Jerusalem does not have a maze of streets. It has one street with the one golden nature of God. It expresses the oneness of the Triune God, as prayed by the Lord Jesus in John 17. It also represents the one fellowship of all of God’s people.
We have been called into this fellowship today (1 Cor. 1:9) as a foretaste of the one street of New Jerusalem. This fellowship is “of His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.” Apart from Him there is no fellowship and in Him it is unlimited as we will realize for eternity in New Jerusalem.
