The River from the Redeeming God

An angel showed John “a river of water of life, bright as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb in the middle of its street” (Rev. 22:1). There is one throne in New Jerusalem for both God and the Lamb because they are One, the Lamb-God, our Redeemer.

New JerusalemThe river in the New Jerusalem flows from the throne of the redeeming God, from the redeeming God in His administration. Hence, the flowing of the river of water of life has much to do with God’s administration.
This flowing from the throne is a matter of the dispensing of the processed Triune God into us. God is flowing out of Himself into His redeemed ones. This dispensing of the processed Triune God issues from God’s administrating throne….The dispensing of the life supply and of God’s all-sufficient grace issues from the throne of God’s administration.*

Redemption is for life! John 19:34 tells us that a solider pierced Jesus’ side with a spear “and immediately there came out blood and water.” The blood signifies redemption and the water represents life. His death redeemed us and released the eternal life which was imparted into us in His resurrection.

Both redemption and life impartation are eternal. Thus, both are present in New Jerusalem and we will appreciate both as we worship the Lamb-God on the throne.

        The Gift of... Accounting?

While studying the topic of spiritual gifts this week, I stumbled upon a curious path and thought I would share my findings.Probably, when you think of spiritual gifts, accounting is not the first one that jumps to mind. I promise you that no one gets into ministry because they have a burning passion for budgets and spreadsheets. Still, as I said in a lecture to some college ministry students a few years ago at Oklahoma Christian University, "You can’t do any more ministry than you can afford, s
