The Storm Is Coming: Are You Spiritually Prepared for the Signs of the End Times?

It’s officially here—hurricane season in Florida. Across the state, many residents are already preparing. They’re stocking up on water bottles, batteries, non-perishable food, generators, and securing window shutters. They’re alert. They’re ready. But not everyone is.

Some ignore the forecasts. They hear the weather reports but dismiss them. They see the storm’s projected path but convince themselves it will veer away. They’re urged to evacuate but refuse. And yet, despite the warnings, many are caught unprepared when disaster strikes.

Across Florida and coastal regions, people are glued to the Weather Channel, watching the progress of each tropical system—its speed, its strength, and its shifting path. Meteorologists analyze the storm’s signs long before it ever makes landfall.

But right now—today—we’re seeing other signs. Not signs from Doppler radar or storm trackers. These are spiritual signs, visible to anyone with eyes to see and ears to hear. They point not to a hurricane, but to something far greater and more permanent: The return of Jesus Christ.

The Signs Jesus Told Us to Watch For

In Mark 13:7–8, Jesus plainly warned: “And when you hear of wars and rumors of wars, do not be alarmed. This must take place, but the end is not yet. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be earthquakes in various places; there will be famines. These are but the beginning of the birth pains.”

    Sound familiar?

Turn on the news. Open your news feed. You’ll see wars, conflict, earthquakes, natural disasters, global instability, and economic chaos. These are not just events—they’re warnings. God’s spiritual forecast is clear, and just like a hurricane warning, we are given time to prepare.

Will You Have Oil in Your Lamp When the Bridegroom Comes?

Jesus also shared a sobering parable in Matthew 25:1–13. Ten virgins waited for the bridegroom—five were wise and five were foolish. The wise had oil in their lamps, the foolish did not. When the bridegroom arrived unexpectedly at midnight, only those prepared went in. The rest were locked out.

"But while they were on their way to buy the oil, the bridegroom arrived... And the door was shut.” (Matthew 25:10)

That closed door wasn’t just about missing a wedding. It was about missing eternity.

God’s Warning Is Clear. The Time to Prepare Is Now.

Hurricanes can be tracked. Evacuation routes can be planned. Storm shelters can be stocked. And people take action—because they believe in the threat.

But what about the storm of eternity? What about the King’s return?

No one knows the day or the hour. But we do know this: Jesus is coming back.

We must evacuate our spiritual complacency, our pride, our distorted beliefs, and our lukewarm faith. Instead, we are called to:

    • Fill our lamps with the oil of trust in God's Word
    • Strengthen our faith through obedience and surrender
    • Let go of distractions and give Jesus our full devotion
    • Walk in spiritual readiness, not fear

    Let’s Pray

Father, time is running out. Help me release anything that keeps me from following You fully. Let my heart be filled with faith, trust, and obedience. I want to be ready—not just for life’s storms, but for eternity with You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Meteorologists can predict the timing and path of a hurricane. But God gives no date for Christ’s return—only signs. The question is…

Will you be ready when the spiritual storm breaks… or will the door be shut?
