The Throne of Grace in New Jerusalem

New JerusalemJohn 1 tells us, “In the beginning was the Word…And the Word became flesh and tabernacled among us…full of grace and reality….Grace and reality came through Jesus Christ.” (v. 1, 14, 17).

Grace is Christ as our life supply. Paul, speaking about his prolific labors in 1 Corinthians 15:10 says, “not I but the grace of God.” In Galatians 2:20 he puts it this way, “it is no longer I who live, but it is Christ who lives in me.” Not I but grace equals not I but Christ.

The center of the New Jerusalem, which is the mother of the believers [Gal. 4:26], is God and the Lamb on the throne (Rev. 22:1)….The Triune God is also the element of the new covenant of grace. Grace is the processed Triune God for our enjoyment. Because the new covenant brings us God Himself for our enjoyment, it is called the new covenant of grace. Furthermore, the Triune God is the element, essence, and nature of the children of freedom.*

God and the Lamb on the throne in New Jerusalem, the throne of grace (Heb. 4:16), are our eternal supply of grace. They are our nourishment, our joy, our comfort, our light, and all that we need.
