The Triune God is our Entrance to New Jerusalem

New Jerusalem has twelve gates, “On the east three gates, and on the north three gates, and on the south three gates, and on the west three gates” (Rev. 21:13).

New JerusalemThe three gates on each side of the holy city signify that the three of the Triune God—the Father, the Son, and the Spirit—work together to bring people into the city. This is indicated by the three parables in Luke 15….There is the need of the Son, the Shepherd, to bring back the lost sheep; there is the need of the Spirit to enlighten the hearts of people that they may repent; and there is the need of the Father to receive the returned and repentant prodigal son. Hence, the Triune God is the entrance to God’s dwelling, the holy city.*

How marvelous that the three parables in Luke 15 correspond to the three gates on each side of New Jerusalem. These gates face every direction showing that the entrance to the city is equally available to all peoples.

The song to the Lamb in Revelation 5:9 praises Him, “You were slain and have purchased for God by Your blood men out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation.” In Revelation 7:9-10 people saved from all these origins stand before the heavenly throne and praise God and the Lamb.

In ourselves we are neither qualified nor able to enter New Jerusalem but the Triune God has brought us in. Praise Him!!
