Top benefits to enjoy by attending church

In our busy and earthly lives, much of our time is spent on the concerns of this world. Work takes center stage because we often do our jobs “24/7.” As a result, little or no time is left for family, church, or even God.

God is mocked. He created us in His image to have a pious and ongoing fellowship with Him. While God charged us with the righteous dominion of the earth and being good stewards for our families and society, He demands that we not forget to honor and worship Him.

God made the Church and Sabbath doctrine for our rest and His benefit. In the congregation of the saints, we exalt and praise God.

Attending church has many benefits for our personal growth and the people around us. Here are the main reasons why we should consider making church a consistent part of our lives:

Fellowship and Community of Believers

“And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds,  not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.” Hebrews 10:24-25

The church is where we find the hands and feet of Jesus. In our community of faith, we honor our Creator, who made us out of nothing. When we gather together in God’s name, we edify the church and find strength in pursuing the aims and mandates of the Lord.

We are God’s family in church, and nobody is a stranger. Good friendships are developed in this community. We need not be alone in our quest for a happy and godly existence.

Hear God’s Word and Message

“Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ.” Romans 10:17

Since ancient times, God’s message has been delivered directly to us or through His appointed people. They include the prophets, apostles, and our Messiah, Jesus Christ. Today, we are blessed by God to have pastors and speakers who explain His Word and contrast current circumstances and events with biblical doctrines. Like the Bereans, we gather together in church and examine the Scriptures.

Worship and Praise God

“Praise God in his sanctuary praise him in his mighty heavens.”Psalm 150:1

Our priority is to honor and have fellowship with our Creator. In the company of other believers, we pray to God, worship, and praise Him. Through reverential adoration, we meditate and extol His magnificence. Through jubilant praise, we dance and sing to the Lord. The Bible says that God also sings with us.

Sharing and Healing

“Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the church elders to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven.” James 5:14-15

In a chaotic and overwhelming world, the church is a place of peace and healing. It’s a sanctuary where we can slow down, breathe deeply, and connect with something larger than ourselves and other believers.

As the Body of Christ, believers pray for each other. We share each other’s thoughts, sins, failures, and victories. When we gather in His name, we repel the enemy and teach healing and wholeness in our ranks.

Dr. Jeff Levin wrote, “People who regularly attend church services have lower rates of illness and death than do infrequent or non-attendees. For each of the three leading causes of death in the United States—heart disease, cancer, and hypertension—people who report a religious affiliation have lower rates of illness.”

Giving Back to the Community

“Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.” 1 Peter 4:10

We can give back to our community when we join a church gathering. We build up the Body of Christ by joining volunteer programs and community outreaches. With our brothers and sisters in Christ, we donate to charity programs, visit orphanages, and help feed the hungry during calamities.

In the church, we can find the magnified presence of God in the company of saints who love and care for us. In the process, we also find greater joy and fulfillment when we love and care for others.

Church: The Hands and Feet of Jesus

”For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.”Matthew 18:20

The church is not defined by the four walls of a building but by the gathering of faithful believers. God is with us in a small study group or a large fellowship in a huge, cosmopolitan city. His church is also magnified within our family home when we pray with our loved ones. The essential church is a beacon of fellowship, empowerment, and healing.

We are all sinners and broken. A well-known saying of Augustine goes, “The church is not a museum for saints, it is a hospital for sinners.” Since the Fall, our flawed and sinful nature has often driven us away from God’s sight. Together with our imperfect brothers and sisters, we seek God in fellowship and for guidance and healing.
