Wear Your Full Armour
Our battle is not against flesh and blood but against principalities, powers, against rulers of darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places (Ephesians 6:12). We therefore wear the full armour of God, to protect us against the darts of the evil one.
We are fighting an invisible battle and whenever we decide to take a stand of righteousness for God, the enemy will push back to try to stop us from advancing. Many old tendencies and situations take help from unseen agents of God, in heavenly realms to be made right. Fasting is a time and strategy to connect with God and to sanctify ourselves, as we hear from him and see into the spiritual realm, those things that we need to address and bring into subjection under our feet.
In the natural we may see stubborn problems that refuse to shift, but when we pray and seek God, he gives us spiritual insight into what things in the spirit realm maybe hindering our prayers. Daniel prayed 21 days before Gabriel delivered an answer to his prayer and the report from Gabriel was that the Prince of Persia withstood him. But as Daniel continued to press in with prayer and fasting Michael was sent to fight and assist Gabriel in delivering Daniel’s answer (Daniel 10).
Our prayers cover our heads with the helmet of salvation, to keep out the negative thoughts from the enemy. And as we pray we cast down (command to be silent), arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ (2 Corinthians 10:5). As we declare that our minds will be focused on those things and those thoughts that originate from the throne of God:
We start with covering our minds and we declare that we have the mind of Christ, so the enemy cannot bring the spirit of confusion, fear, guilt and doubt. Let us remain steadfast, remain focused and continue to watch in prayer, knowing that greater is he who is in us than he that is in the world.
