What do I get from sacrificial love?

People are willing to do everything for love. Regardless of love, such as in marriage, parenting, siblings, or any type of relationship, there will always be sacrifices once there is genuine love.

But what do we get when we love sacrificially? Is it truly worth it when we sacrifice for the people we love?

In this blog, let us discover what we can get from sacrificed love, beginning with understanding what it means to sacrifice.

What is sacrificial love?

Sacrificial love is an act of selfless affection toward someone significant in our lives. It brings immense joy and an indescribable happiness when we witness their well-being, even after enduring the challenges we've faced for them.

Moreover, it is what God, our Heavenly Father, has for us. The best way to define sacrificial love is to see what God did for all humankind.

John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world, He gave His only begotten Son so that who so ever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life.”

When I became a mother, I realized the kind of love I had for my son, and I could not bear or even imagine sacrificing my child for the sake of the majority. Yet, our Heavenly Father made the greatest sacrifice for humans to be reconciled with Him; thus, that is sacrificial love.

It is the basis of unconditional love. That is why we can love others because God first loved us. (1 John 4:19)

So whenever you ask why you are doing everything for the sake of love, it is clearly because God did everything. After all, He loves you, even if it takes the life of His beloved Son.

What do I get from sacrificial love?

Just because God has given us His unconditional love does not mean we will get tired of sacrificing out of love. We are humans and have limitations. Sometimes, giving everything and doing everything for the people we love is tiring.

Besides, sometimes it may seem like you are not getting any benefits from all your sacrifices. But let us dive into some things we can get from our sacrificial love for God, our spouse, children, parents, and others.

Deeper Connections

When you give with all your heart, primarily through sacrificial love, you're letting people see a part of you that's real and raw. It's like letting someone into a secret club that's just for the two of you. Over time, this shared bond grows and becomes something extraordinary.

Conversely, when someone shows you that love, you feel valued and understood. It’s like having a secret handshake or a favorite song that only the two of you know. These moments create memories that last, building deep and meaningful connections.

A Sense of Fulfillment

There is magic in doing something good for another person, especially when you do not expect anything in return. It's like finding money in an old pair of jeans, except the joy is way more immense and longer-lasting.

This form of love fills up a place in your heart that you didn’t even know was empty. Every act of sacrificial love adds to this inner reservoir of happiness and contentment, making life more prosperous and rewarding.

Growth and Maturity

Loving sacrificially is a journey, one that often has its challenges. Think of it like a workout. At first, it's tough, and you might feel some pain, but the more you do it, the stronger and better you become.

Over time, you begin to see things differently. You learn patience, understanding, and resilience. This journey molds you, shapes you, and makes you better and more mature.

Real-life Miracles

Sacrificial love can make the impossible seem possible. It might not be the flashy miracles we read about, but the little ones that make life extraordinary, like a broken friendship mending or a random act of kindness making someone's day.

Furthermore, these instances, although they may appear minor, create ripples that impact lives in ways that aren't always immediately visible. Each act of love is like dropping a pebble in a pond, creating waves of positivity that can change the world in their little way.

Genuine Happiness

Doing good feels so good. It is a simple truth. When you pour out love, especially the sacrificial kind, the universe gives you a big pat. You feel lighter, brighter, and genuinely happier. This happiness is different from the fleeting kind that comes from, say, buying a new gadget. It’s deep, lasting, and accurate. It’s the kind of happiness that warms you from the inside out, like sunshine on a chilly day.

Inner Peace

When you lay down at night, knowing you've given your all to someone, a unique peace washes over you. It's a deep, calming sensation, like sinking into a warm bath after a long day. This peace comes from knowing you’ve done right, even when it wasn’t easy. It's a comforting reminder that, in a world filled with chaos, there’s a quiet corner within you filled with love and tranquility.

A Closer Walk with God

For many, showing sacrificial love is like walking the path Jesus laid out. Each act of love is a step closer to understanding His immense love for humanity. It's a spiritual journey that brings you nearer to God’s heart.

Your faith deepens as you continue on this path, strengthening your relationship with God. You start seeing the world through a lens of love and compassion, much like how God sees it.

Karma Points

While Christianity does not use the term "karma," the concept is universal: good begets good. When you send out love, it’s like tossing a boomerang—it's bound to come back to you.

It might not be immediate, and it might not be in ways you expect, but the universe has a way of balancing things out. So, every time you love selflessly, you are setting yourself up for some good vibes coming your way.

Boost in Self-worth

Realizing that you can make a difference and touch lives is incredibly empowering. It’s like learning you've got a superpower—and in many ways, you do.

When you do this, you feel better about your worth. You begin to see yourself differently and realize that you can spread love and make the world a better place one action at a time.

A Legacy Worth Leaving

At the end of the day, or even at the end of our lives, it's not about material things. It's about the hearts we’ve touched and the lives we’ve changed. Showing sacrificial love ensures you leave behind a significant legacy.

People might forget the car you drove or the size of your house, but they will always remember how you made them feel. The moments of selfless love you offer become stories passed down and memories cherished by those you've impacted.

That is the kind of legacy that stands the test of time. People remember you for the love you gave and the difference you made, not for what you had.

Sacrificial love is powerful

In essence, sacrificial love is not just about what you give up. It is about the immense beauty, growth, and richness you invite into your life and those around you. Such love has the power to transform, to heal, and to inspire.

It reminds you that sometimes the most profound rewards in life come not from taking but from giving with all our hearts.
