Colossian 2 vs. 12 – buried with Him in baptism, in which you also were raised with Him through faith in the working of God, who raised Him from the dead.
- Water baptism is an act of symbolism to show/enable the followers of Christ associate with the sufferings of Messiah
- Jesus was buried for three days and night, in the same way immersion into water signifies the symbolic burial of Christians with Christ.
- Jesus rose from the dead, and the same way Christians symbolically came out of the water after an initial immersion.
