What is the essence of water baptism?

baptism  Colossian 2 vs. 12 – buried with Him in baptism, in which you also were raised with Him through faith in the working of God, who raised Him from the dead.

  1. Water baptism is an act of symbolism to show/enable the followers of Christ associate with the sufferings of Messiah
  2. Jesus was buried for three days and night, in the same way immersion into water signifies the symbolic burial of Christians with Christ.
  3. Jesus rose from the dead, and the same way Christians symbolically came out of the water after an initial immersion.

Prayer

  • Power that raised Jesus from the dead, raise me up in Jesus name
