When No One Appreciates your Worth, Remember your Creator

"For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them." -Ephesians 2:10

Have you ever felt like you have been doing everything to let others know your worth, yet it seems that you are never enough?

If you are a mother, wife, or someone doing everything for your loved ones, you might have had a moment when you felt that people did not seem to appreciate what you did.

When we are focused on our longingness for appreciation from others, especially from those we love the most, we tend to lose our worth along the way and forget that in the eyes of our Creator, we are His wonderful work.

If that happens, we end up not loving ourselves since we would always think of what is lacking and our flaws based on the perception of others.

So what do we do when no one seems to recognize our worth? How could we focus on how God sees us?

Firstly, it always starts with the right mindset. When we think of this verse that we are God’s workmanship for His good works, then we can do good things without expecting others to appreciate us.

God designed and shaped us to spread goodness to others regardless of whether they would recognize it. Accepting that will be easier for us not to expect from others, even those we love the most.

Secondly, the less we expect from others, the more we can be joyful in doing what we do for them. Let God reward your sacrifices of doing the good things for others instead of longing for people’s appreciation.

God’s appreciation is far better than what people could give. His rewards for our good works are eternal; no one could ever steal that from us. So why do we waste our time seeking others’ recognition? When the one who created us sees every little thing we do for others.

Take Jesus Christ as our example in doing good works for others without seeking His worth from people. He was happy doing everything because He knew His purpose was to please our Father in Heaven regardless of whether people liked Him.

He ended up being fulfilled by doing what He was intended to do. Not everyone appreciated His sacrifices until now, and even the religious people during that time were mocking Him, yet He did not allow these distractions and disappointments to hinder Him from doing His purpose.

Whenever we lose our joy because of not receiving any appreciation, even to those we love, we should always look up to God and remember our worth in Him. Then, we could walk on this journey following Jesus Christ and being more like Him in every aspect of our lives.

It is not how much others appreciate us but how much God sees us, and with God, there is no secret. Our sacrifices of doing the good works will never be in vain and will always have a reward. It is about the principle of reaping and sowing.
