Who God Sends

“And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” Then I said, “Here I am! Send me”” (Isaiah 6:8).

Isaiah detailed a vision which he had of heaven, where he saw the Lord seated on his throne, high and lifted up. Isaiah saw Seraphims who cried out to each other about the glory of God and esteemed him as holy. Within the presence of God Isaiah acknowledge that his lips were unclean. An angel took a coal and touched Isaiah’s mouth and sanctified him and took his sins away. The question was then asked by God, “whom shall I send and who will go for us” (Isaiah 6:8)? Isaiah did not hesitate but called out, “here I am! send me.”

Where was Isaiah being sent and what was he being sent to do? Isaiah was sent to prophecy to the people and to convey the words of the Lord in their hearing. Prophets represent God’s mouthpiece and convey the voice of God to the church. The other five fold ministries also flow in the prophetic anointing and are also sent to convey messages to the church and the world at large. In fact, the great commission is to every Christian to go therefore and teach all nations, baptising them in the name of the father, the son and Holy Spirit (Matthew 28:19).

Isaiah spoke further in chapter 61 about his specific calling which also prophesied of Jesus’s ministry on earth. “The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the poor; he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound” (Isaiah 61:1). Isaiah had a message of good news to the poor which said that though they were poor, through a relationship with God, they can be made rich. His ministry would extend healing to the broken hearted, freedom to those who are being held captive by the devil. Finally, the releasing from prison those who are held bound.

Most of us turn our minds to a physical prison but many people are held hostage in mental and psychological prisons. There are people who are also in spiritual bondage through disobedience or ignorance. Like Isaiah, God will send believers who are available and equipped to help release those in bondage and to restore hope to the broken and wounded. When we are sure that God has sent us, we can rest assured that he has given us what we need for the assignment. He has also prepared us ahead of time and he will send reinforcement to assist us with carrying out the mandate.

“And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news”” (Romans 10:15)!

Born and raised in Jamaica in a Christian family where my father is an ordained Pastor and Deacon who has served for over 50 years in the ministry. My father is also a trained musician and our family can be described as a musical family. I grew up in a small farming community in St. Peter’s, St. Andrew and my parents also have a small farm.

I credit my gift of writing to my father who I watched and listened to over the years as he wrote sermons, poems and other recitals in his capacity in ministry. English has always been an easy subject for me and over the years I have developed an increased interest in writing.

I am a Trainer, I sing and have a passion for worship, the spoken word and the free flow of the prophetic anointing. I am married to my best friend Andrew Christopher Young who is an advanced Musician and whose music you can find on YouTube and Facebook. I am a trained Coach and Mentor and I love experimenting with food so I love cooking. I enjoy trying cultural dishes from across the world and I view food as an entry into cultures and languages.
