Memorise: “The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God,which taketh away the sin of the world” (Jn 1:29)

Read: Philippians 3:20-21

“The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world” (Jn 1:29).

One very remarkable thing about Jesus Christ was that He had to die for sins He never committed. Why did He die? Hebrews 9:22 says except blood is shed, no sin will be forgiven. Blood stands for life. In other words, except something dies to replace the sinner, he will have to die for his sins. Jesus died to shed His blood for the condemned human race. John 1:29-34 - Seagoville Church of Christ

There are several perspectives to this. From human perspective, He died to take away our sins. In the process of that sacrificial death, He was scourged. He was beaten by a professional scourger. Why? All through His years on earth, Jesus was never sick for one day. If He left the scene without this, he may not feel what it is to be in pain. So to become a good intercessor, He had to have a taste of shame, mockery, pain, sickness.

He suffered hunger, thirst, tiredness, etc. so that when you call on Him to solve any of these problems, He will answer because He has once been there. Because of His stripes, we can access healing for our bodies that have been battered by sicknesses, viruses, bacteria or germs. Are you ill? His broken body will release healing to you now.

From the perspective of God the Father, the Son died because of the law of harvest. Usually, a harvest outnumbers the seed sown. Also, the more you sow the greater your harvest. The quality of the harvest is determined by the quality of seed sown (Gal 6:7). This follows that if you sow in naira you will reap in naira, not pounds. If you sow rice, corn will not be your harvest. This is why on the day of resurrection or rapture, we are going to be like Christ according to our reading.

In John 3:16, God sowed His only begotten Son. He had billions of angels He could have given from without feeling it, but He gave one gift that was part of Him and today, He is harvesting believers – little Christs in millions – all from one seed! It is not necessarily how many seeds you sow, although it is advisable to sow continually, but the quality of the seed.

Do you know that you could rewrite your history through one quality seed like God did? How long will you procrastinate about sowing it? Do you really want a change in your life? If you do, prove it by that life-changing seed.

Thank God for the sacrificial death of Jesus on the cross.
