Why do I need to win the battle in my mind
Have you ever wondered what is going on in your mind? Is there a time when you are having second thoughts before doing something?
Our actions and decisions are based on who won the battle in our minds because our mind a battlefield where good and evil fight daily.
However, it would be challenging for us to win our battles within since we live in a fallen world.
We are constantly bombarded with ideas, worldviews, and philippines that could affect how we fight the war.
Especially with the emergence of technologies, most people base their decisions on what they see on social media.
Satan could use these advancements to deceive people and eventually lose the battle in their minds.
What are the battles of the mind
What is your current battle in your mind right now? Is it about lies, insecurities, worries, or discouragement?
In John 10:10, Jesus Christ said, “The thief comes only to steal, kill, and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.”
Satan launches inner battles to make us feel weak. It hinders us from walking in God’s righteousness and plan.
Also, the said schemes could stop us from living out our God-given identity.
In addition, these thoughts are unwanted for us to keep fighting off. They can be lies about God and ourselves.
When satan sees you desiring to walk in righteousness or seeking God’s favor, he will trigger a war in your mind.
He would attack you by inputting lies, worries, and discouragement in your mind to stop you from drawing closer to God.
Satan wants to overrule your life; he cannot do that if you fix your eyes on Jesus.
Like what he did to Adam and Eve, he wants to destroy your beautiful relationship with God. He wants people to doubt God’s sovereignty.
Moreover, he would put fear, insecurities, anxieties, and destruction in your mind just for you to get angry with God.
Why do I need to win the battle
Knowing why we must win our battles within could help us choose who to fight for.
Are you fighting for God or Satan?
My church pastor identified some reasons we need to win over the battles in our minds.
God is more concerned about your mind
Dr. Rick Warren, from the Saddleback Church, emphasized that God is far more concerned about changing our minds that changing our situations.
God is powerful and can easily change our devastating situation into something beautiful. But, He is more concerned about our attitude towards our position.
Furthermore, our mind is battling if we would wait and be still for the Lord or we would be impatient and act in our ways.
Thus, we must win the battle if we allow satan to drive us. It could also cause us to fight against God due to our pride.
Satan will encourage us to think of ways to escape our situation or solve our problems without depending on God.
My thoughts control my life
According to our pastor, whenever we think positively, we are full of energy and enthusiasm to do things. However, when we think negatively, our body feels the same thing.
Moreover, our thinking drives how we treat ourselves and respond to others.
Proverbs 4:23 says, “Be careful how you think; your life is shaped by your thoughts.”
Our mindset determines our future, so we must win our battles for God. Unlike satan, God never intends to harm us but to give us hope and the future.
If Satan tells you that you are weak and have to worry about your future, Jesus Christ tells you that you are capable and have nothing to worry about in Him.
Therefore, we must choose who to fight for and believe in since our bodies and emotion will follow our thinking.
Mind is the battlefield for sin
Every sin begins in the mind. The birth of temptations, fear, worries, guilt and anxieties all started in our minds.
Besides, even disobedience started in our minds.
Another reason why we need to win the battles in our mind is that satan is using it as a place for us to sin against God. We should not allow satan to destroy our connection with the Lord by entertaining his schemes.
Thus, we must guard our mind because it is the most powerful; part of our body. If satan attacks our minds, our emotions and body will follow.
We must be vigilant since we know there is no good in choosing sin. Our sins could never give us a wonderful future so we must win our battles.
Mind is the key to genuine peace and happiness
On the contrary, winning the battle over satan is our way to experience the peace and happiness that this world could never offer.
If we win the battles in our minds, we are at peace and joyful regardless of how difficult life is or our situation.
Having peace of mind is the most essential gift you could give to yourself for you to appreciate and enjoy life. Thus, it all starts in our minds.
Romans 8:6 says, “To be controlled by human nature results in death; to be controlled by the Spirit results in life and peace.”
How to win the battle in the mind
Now that we know why we must win the battle, how can we win the war?
Here are some ways to win over the battle in our minds.
Put on the full armor of God
Soldiers will only go to a battlefield if they put on their gear. Ephesians 6:10-11 says, “Finally, build up your strength in union with the Lord and by means of his mighty power.
Put on all the armor that God gives you, so that you will be able to stand up against the Devil's evil tricks.”
God’s word is our tool to know and fight against satan's schemes. The more we read the Bible, the more we know his lies and understand how to fight back.
Obey God’s commandments
“These are all the laws the Lord your God commanded me to teach you. Obey them in the land that you are about to enter and occupy.”
“As long as you live, you and your descendants are to honor the Lord your God and obey all his laws that I am giving you, so that you may live in that land a long time.” - Deuteronomy 6:1-2
Obeying God’s commands will help us resist the devil because we know it is against God’s will.
Jesus won the battle
Though it may be impossible for you to win the battles within you, God is willing to fight for you. Jesus Christ had already won the battle for you when He died on the cross.
The truth is, without Jesus, we would remain defeated and slaves of Satan.
However, we do not have to face the battle alone because Jesus won the victory over our sins.
He said on the cross, “It is finished,” which means we are free from the bondage and power of satan.
With reference to Philippians 4:13, we can do all things through Christ, who strengthens us.
