What are tithes and offerings?

Tithes and offerings are examples of givings or sowings we do in church. They are commanded by God in His Word for us to engage in these practices.

They are one of the ways we express our love and devotion to God and His kingdom on this earth. Remember that God said to us in his Word that we should seek His kingdom and His righteousness first (Mathew 6:33). Tithing and giving offerings in our churches is one of the ways we seek His kingdom first.

Why your tithes and offerings in church are not producing

While it’s great to give to the poor and to give tithes and offerings in the church but when it’s not motivated or birthed by love, then it brings zero profits.

Paul wrote in 1 Corinthians 13:3

[3]And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing.

This is probably the reason why many of the offerings are tithes paid in the church are not bringing the required harvest. If you give to the things of God in the church but you don’t love God and His Word, your offering is not motivated by love and it brings zero profits!

When you allow eye service or foolish ego and selfishness to motivate your givings in the church or to the poor, then you’re wasting your time.

What is your motive for giving in Church?

Always check your motive before you do anything – giving inclusive. How much love do you have for God and His Word? How much love do you have for your neighbors?

If you’re not born again, you have not received love from God. You can’t give what you don’t have! Accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior today.

    The Mall or the Manger?

Much has changed since the God of the universe decorated the night sky with the star of Bethlehem and directed the choir of angels in a chorus announcing the birth of Our Savior, Jesus Christ. But the commercialism doesn’t have to rule in our hearts and homes. This year let’s focus on the Christ Child and remember the true meaning of the holiday season. As we turn our eyes to the Babe in the manger, we will not view Christmas as a dreaded obligation or a major retail event. It will be a time of joyous celebration, honoring the One Who came to give us eternal life and worshipping our Heavenly Father.
