With His Own Blood

Day after day every priest stands and performs his religious duties. Again, and again he offers the same sacrifices which can never take away sins. But when this priest had offered for all time one sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God. Hebrews 10:11-12

In eternity was the Lamb who was slain from the creation of the world. God’s grace was given to men in Christ Jesus before time began.

When Adam ate the apple, God sacrificed an animal to clothe him. Now Adam knew that blood must be shed to cover his sin.

Abel, Noah, Abraham and Moses also offered sacrifices to God. But these were only a shadow of good things that were coming. They were a reminder of sins but could never take them away.

These men didn’t have full understanding but believed in God’s promises. So, He credited them with righteousness, leaving their sins unpunished, because in due time His only Son would die for their payment. This was God’s justice. (Romans 3:25-26)

When Jesus came into the world He said, “Sacrifice and offering You did not desire, but a body You prepared for Me. Then I said here I am – it is written about Me in the scroll. I have come to do Your will My God.”

At just the right time, we were made holy through His sacrifice once for all. The Holy Spirit testifying, “Their sins and lawless acts I will remember no more.”

This was the plan all along.

Christian friend, we now have confidence to draw near to our God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith. Continue to hope without wavering since He who promised is faithful.

What about you who doubt God’s promises? What are you offering God to cover your sins? Cain brought fruit and God had no regard for him or his offering. Look to Jesus who alone can take away your sins.

Lord Jesus, thank You for Your obedience to Your Father’s will. We needed a great High Priest like you, separate from sinners who was able to save forever those who come to God through You.

When God Throws a Little Bit of “All Things” in Your Life

I love Romans 8:28. Now, let me be honest…sometimes I don’t. When I am going through a dark time of loss or disappointment, and someone throws a sloppy coat of Romans 8:28 on my open wound, I just want to scream. There. I said it. Paul wrote: “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, Read more...

What does it mean to have childlike faith?

What do you think of when you hear the word “childlike?”For many of us, “childlike” might bring to mind something immature, foolish, or naive. Yet when Jesus talked about childlike faith, he wasn’t asking us to be any of these things. He was inviting us into something pure, trusting, and real. This week, I got to help lead worship at a kids' camp. Watching the kids worship was such a beautiful reminder of what childlike faith truly looks like. These kids worshiped, prayed, and talked about God.
